On this page we will be giving information on our progress so far, and our views for the future. One of our first tasks in 1999 was setting up the Driffield Area Partnership which accessed £3m for regeneration. Projects helped include:
- Building of the new rugby club
- Driffield Navigation
- Skate & BMX park
- Mencap office for Driffield
- Community Chest grants for voluntary groups
- Grants for the Refurbishment of Victoria Road
- New look for North End Park and the Memorial Gardens
We have also succeeded in gaining the following in the years from 1999 to 2010 for the Driffield and Rural Ward area:
- Replacement of old HORSA units at Driffield Junior School
- Adding B1248 Garton to Sledmere to the Winter Gritting route
- Traffic calming in Langtoft
- A much needed car park at Garton Primary School
- New Speed limit along Bridlington Road, Driffield
- New School Hall at Cross Hill Church of England Infants School
- New Cycle tracks linking Kelleythorpe to Driffield, past the old RAF camp
- Lowered speed limits out to Kelleythorpe
- Improved Ambulance cover for Driffield - still ongoing ...
- Interim improvements for Driffield Swimming Pool
- New buildings at Driffield Junior School
- New Performing Arts Centre for Driffield School
- Rebuilding of the St Andrews Church Wall, Bainton
- A New Sports Centre and Swimming Pool for Driffield
- Improvements to the Roadways between Kirkburn and Driffield
- Road improvements along Beverley Road and new roundabouts on Middle Street
- Flood attenuation of £250,000 at Driffield School and Wansford Road area
- Improvements to Bainton and installation of a zebra crossing
Our aims are
- To listen to our residents, and work for what they want
- To keep Council Tax to the rate of inflation
- Ensure availability of more police officers
- Protect rural services
- Improve standards of street cleanliness
- Maintain weekly refuse collection whilst encouraging greater recycling
- Ensure that local decisions are made by local people
- Improve the quality and safety of our roads and footpaths
