Calls for Traffic Calming on Bracken Road

Traffic Calming Proposals to improve safety on Bracken Road.

Residents fears and concerns are to be addresses through proposed traffic calming measures on this busy roadway. The East Riding of Yorkshire Council Highways Officers recently carried out a traffic speed survey on this road. The survey revealed that although drivers were not breaking the speed limit, the speeds were inappropriate for vehicles passing an open space area which is used by children as a play area.

In response to this the East Riding of Yorkshire Council Highways engineers are proposing to install two Speed Tables on Bracken Road, one at each end of the roadway where it passes the open space play area.

Speaking from the proposed site Cllr Felicity Temple commented, The residents were right to raise their concerns and it is good that the highways engineers are able to put some improvements in place which will cut down vehicle speeds on this dangerous corner, I welcome these proposals.

Councillor Symon Fraser remarked, We are delighted to have been able to work with officers to get these proposals put forward. The speed tables will be very effective in improving the safety for Bracken Road area residents. The recent improvements to the road markings have also helped and are welcome improvements which I am sure will make a real and significant difference to child safety in this area.

Councillor Jonathan Owen added, Since the completion of the Bracken Road housing developments there has been a big increase in traffic on this road, we needed to see something done to slow vehicles down. In my view these proposals are just what are needed and I fully support the plans.
