Grants for Driffield Home-Owners
East Riding of Yorkshire Councillors Symon Fraser and Felicity Temple and Jonathan Owen welcome the roll out of home improvement grants.
The three Driffield area ERYC Councillors expressed their delight that the scheme originally confined to homes on Westgate, Victoria Road and North Street is now to be made available to all Drfiield homeowners.
The grants of up to £1000 can be paid to help houses benefit from repairs and refurbishment to their outside appearance. The grants cover up to 33% of the costs of works and can be for schemes costing up to a maximum of £3000.
Councillor Jonathan Owen commented, We are delighted to see this scheme being made available to all Driffield homeowners, the uptake has been a little slower than we had expected and we hope that by increasing the availability we can encourage more people to pick up on this money, there is over £70,000 available for these grants.
Councillor Felicity Temple added, The grants can be used to part pay for all sorts of works to enhance the appearance of property. The money is from SRB funds through the Driffield Area Partnership and we want this money to be used by Driffield residents to improve their homes. I urge anyone who is planning work on their house to contact the Partnership office on 01377 249305 to enquire about the grant.
Councillor Symon Fraser remarked. I really welcome this news, the grants offer a great opportunity to Driffield homeowners to help pay for those vital repairs to house exteriors. Councillor Fraser added, We would like to see the scheme broadened even further to allow people to count their DIY time as match funding for their 66% of the money, this would really encourage people to be involved in home improvements at almost no cost to themselves, the Council officers are to look into how this could be achieved .
For details of how homeowners can access this money contact Helen Hoult at the Driffield Area Partnership on 01377 249305.
