Winner of Chairman's Award - Driffield Farmers Market
Driffield Farmer's Market have come out as top in the economic section at this year's ceremony. Each year entries are invited for the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Chairman's Awards. There are five categories, and the Driffield Agricultural Society was entered this year for its highly successful Farmer's Market, in the category of Enhancing the Economy of the East Riding.
Symon Fraser, who was there to receive the award was delighted. "To be asked along to the ceremony was a surprise in itself, because only the top three entries in each category are invited. The winner is announced on the night and I was amazed that we had won with there being such stiff competition. It is a tribute to all the stallholders and the quality of their produce which has contributed so much. People come from all over to take advantage of fine fresh food straight from the producers and I thank them all, stallholders and the public who come to buy, for helping the Agricultural Society in attaining this excellent endorsement."
