Driffield Councillors retain their seats
Pictured above are a delighted and victorious Jonathan Owen, Felicity Temple and Symon Fraser, with MP Greg Knight celebrating their win this evening for Driffield & Rural ward on the East Riding Council. It was a tense evening at Driffield Middle School Hall, but the trio polled around 1500 votes each and are delighted to continue to serve the people of Driffield and Rural for the next four years.
The rest of the candidates polled around 600 - 700 each, giving the East Riding Conservatives a clear mandate. Symon Fraser said afterwards, "We are over the moon at this result, but we will not lose sight of the fact that we have been elected to listen to, co-operate with and move things forward for the community and that is what we intend to do.
Jonathan's comments were, "It has been a very long couple of months, but I believe that it is our work over the last four years that has brought us this result, not just our leaflet campaigns. We have always said that we will not promise what we cannot deliver, and I believe it is our integrity which has stood us in good stead. We have been elected to serve ALL the people of Driffield, not just those who voted for us, and that is what we shall continue to do.
The final comment came from Felicity Temple who said, "I am delighted that the whole team was re-elected, thank you all those from all over the ward who cared enough to get to a Polling Station and give us this mandate. We will do our best for all residents over the next four years, and build on the experience we have gained over the last four. Thank you too, to all the counting agents and polling clerks but especially all voters in Driffield and our main villages, Kirkburn, Bainton, Sledmere, Garton, Cottam and Cowlam, Tibthorpe and Fimber.''
