Driffield Councillors test track!

Auchinleck cycle track

Right on time, as promised, construction of the new cycle track linking Auchinleck Close to the existing cycle way at Kelleythorpe has started.

After pressure from ward Councillors and residents the ERYC included the first phase of the cycle way in the construction programme for this current financial year. The second phase extending the route to Ramsden Close should also be constructed but will be tackled in the new fiscal year.

Commenting on the scheme Councillor Jonathan Owen said: “It’s good to see that the work has started on time and as promised, it will not be long until the residents of Auchinleck Close have a much safer and improved route to the town.”

Councillor Felicity Temple remarked: “Again through working together and looking for solutions which are right for all parties we have been able to get real safety measures put in place for residents. I will be one of the first to use the track when it is completed and it will be a great improvement over the present situation.”

Councillor Symon Fraser added: “The Auchinleck Close residents will soon have real control over their own safety as they walk or cycle to Driffield or to work at Kelleythrope, the extension to Ramsden Close will offer further safety improvements to all of the residents and further planned improvements to road markings and signage along the whole of the route to Howden will raise driver awareness. It’s a good scheme which we all welcome.
