East Riding Conservatives say "Belt Up!"
East Riding Conservatives say will you please BELT UP!
East Riding Councillors heard at a recent Reduced Crime meeting that the Police are to launch a crackdown on drivers and passengers who are not using their seat belts.
In a bid to prevent unnecessary injuries the Police are to target irresponsible drivers and passengers, both front and back seat, who flout the laws on wearing seat belts.
East Riding Councillor Jonathan Owen said There really is no excuse for not complying with the seat belt laws, its a very simple message, in the words of Jimmy Saville Clunk Click every trip.
In added comment East Riding Councillor Felicity Temple added Without a seat belt you are taking ridiculous risks with not only your own life but possibly with lives of other people. Not belting up really cannot be condoned, just DO IT.
The Police told the meeting that the crack down on offenders would be rigorous, enthusiastic and ongoing.
East Riding Councillor Symon Fraser stated The time has come to reinforce the need to take real account of each person's responsibility to use their seat belt to protect themselves and their co-passengers, I fully support the Police in their actions.
