Is the East Riding under represented within the "Yorkshire & Humberside Region"?
Yorkshire & Humberside Local Authorities Employers Forum
On Friday 24 January I attended my first meeting of the LGMB Employers Forum, which incidentally was inquorate.
The object of the Forum is to
regulate relations between local authorities and fire authorities and their representative and their employees who fall within the purview of the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Council for Local Government Services (hereinafter referred to as the Regional Council) by providing employer representatives as members of the Regional Council and by engaging in all such other activities as are incidental to, or conducive to, the attainment of the aforesaid object.
The Forum may also undertake like activities on behalf of or in conjunction with the following bodies:
The Regional Assembly for Yorkshire & Humberside
The Improvement and Development Agency and The Employers Organisation for Local Government
The Local Government Association
The Forum consists of 46 members from 26 Authorities, appointed as follows
North Yorkshire County Council 3 members
Metropolitan Council of Bradford 3 members
Metropolitan Council of Leeds 3 members
Metropolitan Council of Sheffield 3 members
East Riding of Yorkshire Council 2 members
Kingston upon Hull CC 2 members
North East Lincolnshire Council 2 members
North Lincolnshire Council 2 members
City of York Council 2 members
Barnsley MBC 2 members
Calderdale MBC 2 members
Doncaster MBC 2 members
Rotherham MBC 2 members
Scarborough BC 2 members
Harrogate BC 2 members
Kirklees MDC 1 member
Wakefield MDC 1 member
Craven DC 1 member
Richmondshire DC 1 member
Hambleton DC 1 member
Ryedale DC 1 member

This means that North Yorkshire has a total representation of 13 members, as does West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire has 7, whilst Hull, East Riding and N & NE Lincs have just two each. Does this seem fair - I think not.
At the meeting I questioned how many members of the population related to each delegate on the Forum but was told it was proportional to the numbers of employees of each body. This I am having checked.
