Cycletrack to connect Kelleythorpe to Driffield!
Great News for Residents - see plans below for more details

SHOWN ABOVE IS THE FIRST PHASE OF THE PROPOSED CYCLE TRACK - DUE TO BE COMPLETED BY MARCH 2003 LINKING THE RUGBY CLUB AND THUS DRIFFIELD TO AUCHINLECK CLOSE

SHOWN ABOVE (not highlighted) IS THE PROPOSED EXTENSION TO BE COMPLETED NEXT YEAR.
Confirmation has just been received on proposals to make dramatic improvements to safety for residents of Auchinleck Close and Ramsden Close.
Plans have been announced today to extend the highly successful Kelleythorpe cycle and walkers path up to these two residential areas.
Work should start on the first length of extended trackway before March 2003 and the second section should be completed in the early part of the new financial year.
Driffield and Rural Councillors hailed the scheme as a major step forward in safety for these residents.
Councillor Felicity Temple commented: Ever since we were successful in getting the cycleway to the industrial estate we have been pressing for it to be extended to Auchinleck and Ramsden Closes and we are pleased to see that this is going to be implemented, it will really make a difference to all the folk who live on this estate.
Councillor Symon Fraser added: Speed limits were considered but it was feared that any imposed limit would simply be ignored by drivers, this is by far the best way of improving safety. A proper cycle and foot track gives these residents real access to a safe route to both Kelleythorpe and Driffield, we are delighted with the proposals.
Councillor Jonathan Owen said: Once again by working with officers and residents we have been able look at the problems faced by residents and come up with an answer that brings real benefits to Driffield people, this is an excellent scheme and we are delighted with the way its design offers much improved safety to walkers and cyclists.
