Call for smaller delivery trucks at Eastgate North Dairy

Councillors Fraser, Owen & Temple recently conducted a Street Surgery on Eastgate North in Driffield and found a common theme - the deliveries to the local Co-operative Dairy.

Many residents have voiced their fears that the size of the articulated trucks reversing into the narrow opening are a danger to the public and to the roads and footways.   The artics need to mount the kerb in order to swing round during the manoevre and this has caused damage to footpaths on both sides of the road and is scuffing the road surface.

Liz Philpott from the Highways Department at ERYC has been asked by the Councillors to look into not only making good the damage, but also negotiating with the Dairy owners to find a solution.  When Councillor Temple spoke to the manager at the Scarborough Depot of the Co-operative Dairy Group he was aware of the problems and promised to talk to his bosses to try and find an alternative vehicle for this run of deliveries - watch this space!
