Boost for Town's Budding Entrepreneurs.

The start on the expansion of the Skerne Road Business Centre heralds an era of new opportunities for business starters in the Driffield area.  Pictured above are, Left to Right, Councillor Symon Fraser, Helen Hoult, SRB Co-Ordinator for Driffield & Beverley Area Partnerships, Dave Tunstall, Skerne Road Business Counsellor and Councillor Felicity Temple.

The successful centre already offers easy terms accommodation to nine Driffield enterprises and the construction of five new workshop and office units and training room facilities boosts the centre's ability to kickstart new Driffield work opportunities.

Cllr Felicity Temple commented, "The buildings offer superb modern, clean and serviced accommodation to new business starters enabling them get on with the job of building their enterprises - let's hope that people take full advantage of this brilliant opportunity".

Dave Tunstall, a business counsellor for the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said "We offer a full range of business support services at the centre, for existing businesses as well as budding entrepreneurs. The services are generally free including the New Horizons programme for start up businesses."

Helen Hoult, SRB Co-Ordinator for the Driffield and Beverley Partnerships said "This is our first major capital project for inward investment, and economic growth which will be a part of the regeneration of the area."

Cllr Symon Fraser added, "Link this super facility with the support services of such organisations as the Prince's Trust and the Agricultural Society’s East Yorkshire Cornerstone and we can make a life in business a real option for our young people of Driffield. We have some amazingly talented youngsters with incredible skills leaving our Schools and Colleges, the Business Centre can offer them first step accommodation to help launch their own enterprise."

The project, managed by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is being funded through money from the Regional Development Agency, Yorkshire Forward.
