Join in the Census in 2011
There wil be a National Census next year, on 27 March 2011, and census forms will be sent out at the beginning of March 2011 in preparation for it.
Public service finance is based, to a significant extent, on the population of the area served.
For each person recorded by Census it is estimated that £500 per annum of central government funding comes to an area. Over the ten year period before the next Census, any under-counting would mean the 'loss' of £5,000 for every person not recorded. If there was 1% under-reporting, this would amount to £1.5 million 'lost' funding.
It is in Council Tax payers' interest to make it happen - every £1 'lost' is one that has to come from somewhere else for the same level of service.
Your Driffield & Rural Ward members encourage all residents to fill in their forms and ensure they are recorded as living here - particularly in these times of threatened austerity.
