Nicholson's Application withdrawn

Residents of Greenways, Greenlands, Bridlington Road and Woodland Rise who were concerned about the proposed development of a huge appartment block on the site of Ted Nicholsons Garage can breathe a sigh of relief.

The Developers, Omnium Developments, wrote to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council on the 17th May  withdrawing their current proposals for twenty one appartment.

Driffield's East Riding Councillors had worked with residents co-ordinating their objections to the proposals.

Commenting on the developers decision to withdraw the plans East Riding Councillor Symon Fraser said "I am pleased that there is going to be a re-think on the plans for this site, almost everyone wants to see the site redeveloped but the unanimous view is that it must be done in harmony and with respect for the existing surrounding residential area."

East Riding Councillor Felicity Temple remarked, " I am delighted that the current plans have been withdrawn, the proposals would have been dreadful for all of the people who live in that area. I hope that the developers will now sit down with residents to have an open and constructive discussion about how the site can be developed in a way which everyone can welcome."
