ELECTION SPECIAL: Work on the Sports Centre Project, whichhas been going on for months withconsultation, the design stage andcontractor selection is now drawing to a close, and the actualconstruction phase, as reported in the Driffield Times and Post, has now started. Make no mistake, Conservatives fully support recycling - our track record speaks for itself.We are committed to:

  • Weekly Refuse Collection
  • Continuing to improve Recycling - We introduced the Blue Bins for paper, plastic and tin recycling.We introduce theGreen Bag system for garden waste and 7-day Opening for our Household Waste Recycling Site at Kellethorpe
  • Road maintenance, Winter Gritting, (We added the Sledmere/Garton road to the route andhave asked forStation Road in Garton to be added for next year)
  • Street Cleansing and Street Lighting - including replacement of columns
  • Investing in schools, education, libraries, museums, leisure, sports and recreational facilities, including parks and open spaces (North End Park was given a massive face-lift thanks to external funding your three Driffield Conservative Councillors successfully bid for)
  • Engaging with young people to make sure that the facilities and services provided meet their needs
  • Public Transport including Concessions for the over 60's - Red and Green Bus Passes introduced, and reduced rate for national rail travelcards
  • Tackling anti-social behaviour
  • Support for the elderly to live at home wherever possible through aid/adaptations and services such as Lifeline - this was also thanks to the Conservative budget whichaddressed the year on year shortfall, although sadly this was not supported byall groupsat County Hall
  • Regeneration, business support and inward investment
  • Protecting our heritage and environment
  • Including you in the decision-making process
