Information for Lockwood Street Residents

This informationis directed to residents of Lockwood Street, Middle Street South, St Johns Road, Redwood Gardens and surrounding areas.

Ref: Planning Application No: 06/04125/STOUT

A request was made by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council planning department for additional details on the outline proposals for both the residential and health centre developments to the rear of Lockwood Street to be provided by the developer. These details have now been provided, so the application will now start to move through the planning process. Following the public meeting at the Masonic Hall, residents agreed that Jenny Holtby would be your spokesperson at the planning committee meeting when it is held.

Before that happens you may wish to register your support, objections or comments on the latest proposals. If you havent already seen them, plans are available for viewing either by registering with MyEastRiding and following the link on http://www.eastriding.gov.uk or by visiting ERYC Westgarth Council Offices.

To register your views (either for or against) you should write to Mr James Chatfield, Strategic Planning Officer, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, County Hall, Beverley, HU17 9BA.

Your views should concentrate on the planning issues associated with the proposals, for example:

Whether or not the design of the proposals are in keeping with the character of the surrounding conservation area.

Whether or not the design of the proposals are in keeping with the specific and important character of this very intact and original part of Driffield.

The likely impact of the proposals on the environment and amenity of neighbouring residents.

The close proximity of the proposed development to existing housing.

Concerns over the safety of both the access and the approach roads for road users and pedestrians.

The loss of valuable Greenfield area within the confines of Driffield.

The capacity of the existing streets to cope with additional parking and traffic without adversely affecting the existing residents.

On your behalf we have arranged a public open meeting with planning officers on Friday 13th October from 4pm to 6pm at The Masonic Hall, Lockwood Street.

It is also important that you make your views known to the Strategic Planning Committee

Individual letters from residents are much more effective than petitions
