First steps on Cycle Link to Kelleythorpe
At a site and public meeting today, Wednesday 14th November 2001, Officers from the East Riding agreed to take the first steps towards a cycle track linking Kelleythorpe and Driffield.
Representatives from serveral businesses on the Kelleythorpe Estate, including the new Consignia Depot, along with Cllrs Symon Fraser and Felicity Temple met Jason Copper, and Paul Copeland from the Council's Transport and Forward Planning Unit.
The issue had been highlighted recently by a spate of accidents involving postmen but the initiative was started a year ago by Colin Foster who works on the estate.
Luckily for Driffield cyclists it would seem that the scheme will be relatively uncomplicated as the existing pathway around the Rugby Ground and the Showground could be used on the southern side of Driffield. A link to the York Road will also be considered. Proposals will be designed and costed and hopefully linked into maintenance work already planned in order to make best use of resources.
