Driffield Recycling Site open 7 days a week!

Kelleythorpe Recycling Site to Open Seven Days a Week.

East Riding Councillors Symon Fraser and Felicity Temple face the frustration of locked gates for the last time at Driffield’s Household Waste Recycling Site.

Starting from next Monday, Monday May 1st the popular Kelleythorpe amenity site will be open seven days a week. There are also plans to extend summer opening hours so that it is easier for residents to access recycling facilities at the times they want to use them.

Commenting at the gates Cllr. Symon Fraser said, “As Driffield residents get keener and keener to recycle their waste it is important that the Council and WRG the waste contractors make the recycling facilities more easily available. Some of the bigger sites have been open all week for some time, but now all the East Riding sites, including the Kelleythorpe one will be available seven days a week. As Driffield’s gardeners swing into action there will be a big demand for the site to be open every day and for longer opening hours at the weekend, to deal with the summer rush of compostable green waste.”

Cllr. Jonathan Owen commented, “This year our Conservative Budget made provision for this extended opening of all recycling sites across the East Riding, residents are increasingly interested in their environment and enthusiastic about recycling. The seven day opening is just one of the ways we have been able to improve recycling in response to peoples needs and wishes.”

Cllr. Felicity Temple remarked, “The Driffield site is well used and closing it on Wednesdays and Thursdays was leading to queueing to use the site on Friday mornings. It is absolutely right that as recycling becomes more and more a way of life we need to have the site open every day.
