Development Proposals at Greenways and Newland Avenue.

East Riding of Yorkshire Councillors Fraser, Temple and Owen continue to work to address residents concerns on these major proposals

Developers have re-submitted plans to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council showing new proposals for the construction of eighteen apartments on an undeveloped Greenways site.

Additional proposals have been submitted for a further development of two apartment blocks providing for twenty two and twenty eight units on two sites off Newland Avenue.

Speaking from the proposed site Cllr Felicity Temple commented, “These plans are still unacceptable!  Residents will remain concerned about these proposals and we will do all we can to help. Once again anyone with concerns must write to the Planning Department and if possible to all members of the Strategic Planning Committee to make their views known.  Those representing the community last time at the Planning Committee did an excellent job - similar representations must be made again.”

Councillor Symon Fraser remarked, “These proposals really do not offer any significant improvement on the recently refused applications, residents will still be unhappy with the development and we will continue to support the nearby householders. Again it is disappointing that the developers continue to raise the spectre of an old 1974 approved development as a threat and that they have failed to take up the offer to sit down with residents to discuss direct with them how to achieve a result that will satisfy everyone.”

Councillor Jonathan Owen said, “It is really important that we all work together on this issue. We urge everyone who has concerns to write to the planners to make their views known, it is vital that we approach the task afresh, residents must not assume that their comments from the previous applications will automatically be taken into account. These are new applications and views must be re-submitted.”

Councillor Temple added “The plans are available to the public at Westgarth and the contact details for the members of the strategic planning committee and of the planning department at County Hall are now on our website www.driffieldintouch.com.  We urge any concerned residents to write to them.”
