Driffield Councillors offer help to community groups
Driffield Councillors offer of help for local community groups.
Local East Riding of Yorkshire Ward Councillors, Felicity Temple, Jonathan Owen and Symon Fraser are re-launching their http://www.driffieldintouch.com/ website. The site offers information and news items from Driffield. Additionally the site is specifically offering help to local community groups to ensure that they are covering the financial risks that face their organisations.
The help comes in the form of a blueprint risk assessment which clubs and organisations can use to review the way they run their finances.
Councillor Jonathan Owen stated, Recent events have highlighted the need for local community groups to think carefully about how they control their finances. We are not qualified to offer advice but we are able to give some pragmatic common sense support which will help them to check their procedures.
Councillor Felicity Temple remarked, We have numerous Driffield based voluntary groups to whom we are happy to offer this help. The blueprint risk assessment is available either as a download from our website http://www.driffieldintouch.com/ or directly from us.
Councillor Symon Fraser added, I drew up the format of the risk assessment for charities that I am involved with. It has now been used successfully to review the way two local groups organise their affairs. It is a simple process which just goes through a step by step review of how any group handles its finances. It just seemed sensible that if it could be of use to other local voluntary organisations then it was something practical we could do to help and support local groups. We make no pretence of being advisors, we just offer this as a prompt to help.
The Councillors will happily visit any group (local to Driffield) which would like to talk about how the blueprint risk assessment could help them. They can be contacted by email at symon.fraser@farmline.com or by phone on 01377 272770 or 07977 074416.
